Swaib is a native doctor in my village.

Many people in my village visit him each time they fall sick.

One day I caught a fever and went to find out from him what could be wrong with me.

He did his usual diagnosis and told me to return the next day promising to heal me completely.

He told me I was possessed with evil spirits hidden down in my private parts and he had to rub some herbs to get rid of them.

What I did not know was that Swaib had other ill intentions other than heal me.

Suddenly he pinned me to the ground and raped me. I was so ashamed and angry that I went home and did not tell anyone.

However, the next day I told one of my neighbors who out of concern immediately reported the case to DRIDA one of the network partners of MIFUMI Human Rights Defenders Network (MHDRN).

Being a capital offense, DRIDA decided to refer the case to police. Unfortunately, my relatives decided to with draw the case so that it can be solved from home.

I may not have achieved the Justice many people would hope for but DRIDA supported me morally. Swaib was also brought to shame and nobody trusts him anymore. I also encourage my friends to open up and not fear if somebody hurts them.
