Election of Prefectural Body at Mifumi Primary School

The pupils of Mifumi Primary School had an opportunity of electing their own prefects. This was done through voting that required one to line up behind a candidate of his/ her choice. This exercise took place on Wednesday, 13th March, 2019 at the school hall.

The Prefectural Body comprises of 22 Prefects headed by one, Otala John, a pupil in Primary Seven class. Positions contested for included: Head Prefect, Head Boy, Assistant Head Boy, Head Girl, Assistant Head Girl, Games and Sports, Assistant Games and Sports, Health/hygiene, Assistant Health/hygiene, Compound, Art/craft and Disability Prefects.

This Administrative body was inaugurated during a general assembly, where the in-coming prefects were sworn in, in a well-attended ceremony that attracted the school administration and teachers. This ceremony took place on Monday, 18th March, 2019 during the general assembly of the school.  The Deputy Head teacher, had this to comment on the newly sworn-in prefects; “I am happy to note that, the new leadership team has come as a blessing at this particular moment, when the school urgently needs their support in bringing order to the school.”  He was quick to note that the Prefects play a very important role in ensuring that; hygiene is maintained at the school, organize pupils in class and during the assembly; by preparing them during the singing of the school and national anthems, coordinate porridge distribution among others. This he said, contributes to the successful running of the school where without them, the smooth functioning of the school would be interrupted.
