Who We Are

Bride price traps women in relationships that they cant get out from

MIFUMI is an international non-government women’s rights organisation based in Uganda. MIFUMI’s work revolves around protection of women and children experiencing violence and other forms of abuse. MIFUMI believes that if women are empowered they can rise above many of the cultural traditions that hold them back, such as Bride Price. If women are to realise their full potential, they can become the greatest contributors to development.

Mifumi Values

Supporting thousands of women out of various situations of Violence and Abuse

MIFUMI initiates reform through advocacy to policy makers, Counselling support, Medico-legal advice and Hand-held support for survivors to duty bearer offices

As Poverty has been found to be one of the leading causes of violence against women and children, MIFUMI has initiated economic empowerment programmes like micro-credit schemes and other income generating ventures.

MIFUMI ensures that even the very poor in rural Uganda enjoy the basic rights to health and education through the Mifumi Health Centre and Primary School

MIFUMI also believes in equal opportunities by main-streaming the needs of marginalised groups that include people with disabilities and people living with HIV/AIDS

  • To believe women and children's experience of abuse
  • To prioritise all abused women and children's safety and confidentiality
  • To support empowerment and self-help so women can regain control of their lives.
  • To challenge discrimination and promote equal opportunities
  • To promote staff team spirit and personal growth
  • MIFUMI envisions a world where women and children are free from all forms of violence and abuse; and a world where every woman has the opportunity to realise her full potential. you can Help Make a Donation
